It&#8217;s tied to the <a href=\"https:\/\/houseofsaud.com\/travel\/saudi-phone-guide\/\">national SIM registry<\/a> run by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission. It isn&#8217;t optional and it isn&#8217;t a rare edge case.
